Mudbaths & Thermals
Apart from its natural beauties, Dalyan is also known as the “healing place”.
It is told, even the ancient Queen of Egypt, Cleopatra, frequented the mudbaths of Dalyan regularly. These natural baths are one of the most popular places for famous people from all around the world. It is said that as the mud dries, it tightens on your skin and if you continue doing this for some time, the wrinkles on your body disappear.
It's one of the ten most important thermal springs and mineral spring spas in Turkey. The Sultaniye Thermal baths the water is 40 degrees C. The water has been used since Hellenistic times, first by the Carians then the Byzantines.The ruins from these buildings are now submered. The water contains chlorine, sodium, hydrogen-sulphur, fluorine and radioactive elements. The waters which contain radioactive elements and Hdyrogen sulphur are belived to cure rheumatism, skin disorders, liver, spleen and bowel complaints, as well as being beneficial for nervous and digestive disorders.
Especially, radioactive element Radon in waterl is important. According to experts, radioactive elements are good for 8 different illness especially for metabolism, nerve and digestion system and also good for convalescence after a surgicla operation . The tourism season is between June 15 and October.

The Mud baths, are also said to remedy rheumatism as well as cleanse and beautfy the skin. Once you covered yourself in the mud, then wait for it to dry under the sun. The sulphur pool which you clean yourself inside after your mud bath, is also at a temperature of 40 degrees.
The Sultaniye spring is 20 km away by road from southwest coast of the Köycegiz Lake and 4 km away by the stabilized road from Dalyan. There are the ruins of antique walls nearby the spring. The name comes from a neighbouring village. Daily tours are held. The region is covered with pine trees and the water runs at a speed of 42 lt/sec.
It is also available to go from Dalyan to Sultaniye by boats. The spring serves many people a day.
